chatpt is a typo, not a product

chatpt is not a product. It is a common misspelling of ChatGPT, the AI assistant made by OpenAI. The g goes missing between t and p, the domain resolves, and here you are. That is the whole mystery.

This page exists because four of the top results for “what is chatpt” give four different wrong answers. One says ChatPT is the official name. Another says it is a specialist tool for fitness coaching. A third describes ChatGPT and never mentions the typo. So, plainly:

ChatPT is not an app, a model, or a company. It is a misspelling, and it is also a name that several unrelated products and people happen to use. None of them is OpenAI.

Where the letter goes

ChatGPT → ChatPT.

On a QWERTY keyboard, the g sits between t and h. When you type the sequence quickly, the finger rolls from t to p and the g never lands. The result still looks like a word, which is why the mistake survives spellcheck and gets typed again.

Google knows. Search chatpt and it shows “Including results for chatgpt” above the results. Bing does not correct it, which is why a small industry of lookalike domains and download ads has grown around the misspelling.

That is the context for this site. We are not pretending to be the thing you meant. We are the workbench you land on, plus the guide that tells you what to do next.

chatpt vs ChatGPT

There is no comparison to make, because there is only one product. This table is for the person who wants it in one screen.

If you see a page selling “ChatPT access”, “ChatPT Plus”, or a “ChatPT download”, it is selling something that does not exist. The real product is one letter away.

One more false trail: “chat pt”

If you searched chat pt with a space, the intent may not be ChatGPT at all. Google reads “pt” as Portuguese, so that query returns Portuguese-language results and video-chat sites. That is a different audience with a different need, and this site does not serve it. The typo this page is about is chatpt, one word, one missing letter.

If you wanted to log in

There is no “ChatPT login”. Any page that asks for your ChatGPT password and is not on chatgpt.com is not OpenAI.

• Go to chatgpt.com directly, or use the official app.
• If you are locked out, work through Locked out? Work the list in order — it is organised by the actual error message, not by vague advice.

We will never ask for your password, and this site has no login.

If you wanted the app

There is no official “ChatPT” app. The official apps are published by OpenAI:

• Web: chatgpt.com
• iOS: App Store listing, publisher OpenAI
• Android: Google Play listing, developer OpenAI
• Desktop: the download options live at chatgpt.com/download

If a site offers a “ChatPT APK” or a “ChatPT download” for a version of ChatGPT, it is not official. Sideloaded chat apps are a known way to hand your conversations to someone else. Use the store listing, check the developer name, and do not install a chat app from a page whose main product is an ad.

If you wanted free access

There is no “ChatPT free trial”, because there is no ChatPT. ChatGPT itself has a free tier, and OpenAI also sells paid plans — currently named Free, Go, Plus, and Pro for individuals, with Business and Enterprise for organisations. Names and prices change; the current pricing page is the only version worth trusting.

If you wanted the official website

The official product is at chatgpt.com. Three quick checks before you type a password anywhere:

1. Domain. The host is exactly chatgpt.com or chat.openai.com (which redirects). Lookalikes add words, hyphens, or a different TLD.
2. Developer. App store listings name OpenAI as the developer. A listing by an unknown publisher with a similar icon is not the product.
3. Payment. OpenAI bills through its own checkout. Anyone asking you to pay a third party for “ChatGPT access” is selling you something OpenAI does not sell.

The same logic applies to this site: we are chatpt.chat, an independent guide. We do not sell access, accounts, or subscriptions.

What “ChatPT” is used for by other people

The name is not ours and not OpenAI’s alone. At the time of writing, “ChatPT” is also used by an Android utility app, a personal trainer in the UK, a few AI persona pages, and at least one hackathon project. Those are unrelated to each other and to OpenAI.

This matters for two reasons. First, if someone recommends “ChatPT” to you, ask which one — the name identifies nothing on its own. Second, we are not going to claim the name. We are a domain, a workbench, and a guide.
